Depending on how you have your external monitors set up, you probably want one of them to be your “Main Display” This is the display where your desktop icons will show up.
- Right-click over your desktop…anywhere is fine. A menu will appear, select Display settings
- You’ll see a representation of your Surface display and one or more external monitors that are attached to your docking station or directly to the Surface. Each box represents a monitor.
- Click the Identify button and a number will temporarily appear in the lower left of each monitor so you know which physical monitor is which. Make a note of which monitor you want your desktop icons to appear on. Then, click that box on the display screen that represents that monitor so it turns blue.
- Scroll down on the screen and under the Multiple display section, selecting Make this my main display.
- Your desktop icons should now be located on the display you selected above.
