If your Surface Pro or Surface Laptop is not charging these are some troubleshooting steps that will help you resolve the lack of charging.
The most common cause of the Surface not charging is the dock needing power cycled. If you are in the office and plugged into the dock, everything may appear to be working fine with your monitors, keyboard, mouse, etc, but your Surface is still not charging.
To power cycle the dock unplug the power cable that runs to the power source from the back of the dock, wait a couple of seconds, and then plug it back in.
If this does not resolve your issue, please check the connection between the dock or power supply and you Surface. Unplug it and turn it the other direction (the plug is designed to work both ways) and plug it back in and make sure the white light turns on.
If you still do not have a light, and the Surface is still not charging, please follow the power supply back to the wall checking every connection by unplugging it and plugging it back in. Pay close attention to where the cable plugs into the charging brick.
If none of the above steps resolve your issue, as a last resort, please do a hard reset on your Surface following these instructions:
