Note: The Authenticator may get restored if doing a backup/restore, cloud restore, or a transfer from phone to phone, but the Microsoft Authenticator app needs to be activated with Microsoft. The activation will not come over with a restore.
If you already have the account listed in your Authenticator App from a restore or any other reason you can ignore it. These steps will update any existing account in your app and most importantly – activate it with Microsoft.
You need to follow these directions on your computer. You will only use your mobile device when directed to by the instructions on your computer screen.
You will need your old/existing device to authorize your new device. If you still have access to your old device, you can continue with the steps below approving the first prompt on your old device. If you do not have your old device please let us know so we can reset your MFA.
You can find the link to manage your Microsoft Authenticator Devices by opening Edge on your Company Computer and finding the link under the NAC/NEP Favorites folder on the Favorites/Bookmark bar.
If you are not on a Company computer, or you do not have the Favorites folder mentioned above, please use the browser you normally use to access your Company email on your Personal Computer. In the top right-hand corner of your Company email click the circle profile icon, followed by the View account link in the box that slides out.

On your My Account page you will click the Security info menu item on the left side of the page.
If you are asked to Approve sign in request and still have your old device to approve it, please approve the request. If you do not have your old device please let us know so we can reset your MFA.
If you get to the site called My Sign-Ins | Security Info without any approval requests we can continue with the following steps.
Click the Add method link
Follow the steps to set up your new device
You will be prompted to Add a method - choose Authenticator app
It will remind you to get the app for your new device you are adding, then click Next
You will then be given some final reminders to add an account and select Work or school
In the app on your phone you will choose to Scan a QR code and scan the QR code on the next page
After you scan the QR code with your phone click Next on the screen that has the QR code on it
Click Next to Try it out
Approve the prompt on your new device, then click Next
You are finished, you will now see the listing of all the devices that you have configured
You can delete any devices you no longer have, or no longer use
