If this is the first time you are setting up the Microsoft Authenticator - please continue with the rest of the steps in this article.
During or shortly after you log into your new Microsoft account you will be told that More Information is required. This prompt is telling you that you need to enroll the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device.
If you receive this message while logging into your Microsoft account on your mobile device, please stop and open portal.office.com on your computer instead as you will need to initiate this process on your computer so you can take action from your mobile device when prompted.
If you do not yet have the Microsoft Authenticator installed on your mobile device, you can install the app using the QR codes at this Microsoft link: https://aka.ms/getMicrosoftAuthenticator
Follow the steps to set up the Microsoft Authenticator on your device
It will remind you to get the app for your new device you are adding, then click Next
You will then be given some final reminders to add an account and select Work or school
In the app on your phone you will choose to Scan a QR code and scan the QR code on the next page
After you scan the QR code with your phone click Next on the screen that has the QR code on it
Click Next to Try it out
Approve the prompt on your new device, then click Next
You are finished, you will now be logged into your account.
