7Zip is a compression utility that's installed on all NAC machines and works much like the native ZIP functionality built in to Windows. However, 7Zip is much more powerful and has the ability to also password protect a compressed file or folder that contains may files or subfolders. Here's how to do it.
Right-click over the file or folder that you would like to compress and password protect and select 7-Zip from the menu and then Add to archive...
Under the Encryption section, Enter a password in the two password fields. You can select Show Password if you'd like to confirm the password is the same in both fields.
Click OK and a .7z or .zip will be created (depending on the archive format you have selected). You can see the 7z file along with the original file/folder that was compressed and password protected. You can tell which one is the 7-Zip file by looking at the Type column where it will be shown as 7Z File or (zipped).
You may or may not see the .7z or .zip file extension at the end of the File Name. This is a preference setting on each individual's computer and most likely you won't see this extension shown unless you've modified your settings. The example above has the setting turned ON to see file extensions.
Now, you have a file/folder with the original file(s) and a single, zipped (compressed and password protected) file in the same folder.
The procedure is the same for compressing a single file.
